    Piqqem released its weekly technology sentiment for the week ending May 28, 2010, and although the overall Piqqem technology sentiment index was flat, the internet and mobile sector showed a sharp increase.  After another week of high volatility in the US equity markets, technology sentiment remained flat at 27.16. Within the technology sectors, hardware & networking was down 1.30 to end at 31.36, software and gaming was down .21 to end at 28.84, semiconductor was down .11 to end at 27.83, and finally internet and mobile rose 1.64 to finish at 20.61. A sentiment rating of 25 and above is considered positive.

    Amazon - Q1 2010 Sentiment Stabilizes Ahead of Earnings

    Amazon’s Q1 2010 sentiment decreased by 4 points for the quarter. As a comparison, sentiment for the NASDAQ index dropped 16 pts in the same period, which accounts for some of Amazon’s overall sentiment decline. On the Piqqem scale, Amazon’s sentiment rating of 29.09 is considered a buy and its absolute sentiment indicates a high quality stock. Only Amazon knows their actual results, but current sentiment points to the on-line retail giant delivering relatively good news on Thursday.

    The above chart shows Netflix’s sentiment dropping by 15 pts for the quarter. As a comparison, sentiment for the NASDAQ index dropped 13 pts in the same period, which makes some of Netflix’s sentiment drop attributable to the overall market. On the Piqqem scale, Netflix’s sentiment rating of 10.21 is considered a hold and its absolute sentiment indicates a moderate quality stock. Only Netflix knows their actual results, but current sentiment points to the rental giant delivering lackluster news on Wednesday.

    Still negative even though it continues to run up. This is simply a very overvalued retailer. Growth isn't there. Margins aren't there either.
